(02)9905 6048 Our
new smoke machine Leak Detection System has proven to be very effective in
locating the source of leaks within the car’s intake or evaporative system,
whether they are oil, petrol or vacuum leaks. Here are some successes:
After having a fuel smell in the
car for about a year, the source of the problem was found in 2 minutes. A
vapour hose which was impossible to see, had come off the fuel evaporation
tank which was hidden up inside the right rear guard during some panel beating
to the car the year before.
A car which was constantly going out of tune and altering the fuel mixture by itself, the smoke machine located a split hose between the air flow meter and throttle body within minutes. This hose had gone undetected despite earlier diagnosis attempts.
A car with a persistent oil leak,
the smoke machine quickly detected a faulty “new” oil seal as the problem
after previous attempts by others to fix it had failed. These
are just a few of the many successes we are having since acquiring this
machine. The time it is saving us in diagnosing these often impossible to find
problems is unbelievable. In fact I would not have believed how good this unit
is if I hadn’t brought one and tried it myself and seen. Thank
you very much, Richard

a note to let you know how happy I am with the Smoke Machine purchased
recently. I have found it to be an extremely useful tool in sourcing induction
leaks, engine oil leaks and fuel vapour leaks, greatly reducing diagnostic
time and enabling me to diagnose far more accurately. It is also a tremendous
enhancement to the Vane CA9000 engine analyser. Sincerely, Dave

name is Phil Springate and our business while based on working on the normal
every day motor vehicle, also involves a wide range of performance and race
vehicles. We
purchased the Smoke Machine approximately 12 months ago and have
found it very effective. We find that about 70% of the vehicles we work on
have vacuum problems. This machine saves an average of half an hour on most
jobs, and we couldn’t be without it. Phil

(07) 3349 7838 We
purchased a smoke machine approximately 4 months ago. When the machine was
demonstrated to us some time earlier, we all thought it could be quite a
useful diagnostic tool. Little did we realise until purchasing the machine
exactly how useful and time saving it would prove to be. We
all know how frustrating and time consuming finding things such as vacuum
leaks and fuel smells can be especially on late model front wheel drive cars. In
a matter of minutes the smoke machine allows easy fault finding without the
need to remove components. It is just a simple matter of connecting the
machine and follow the smoke to pin point exactly where a possible leak is
coming from. We
here at Newstar would recommend the smoke machine to any workshop who has ever
spent hours chasing vacuum leaks and endless complaints from customers about
fuel smells. Put
simply a must for workshops. Yours
faithfully, Scott

receiving my smoke machine I have found it a valuable diagnostic tool, also a
time saving piece of equipment. Nothing
I have seen previously is easier or more accurate in finding leaks in either
the induction, evaporative & exhaust systems, allowing quick simple
checking of these systems during engine tuning has proved to be highly
successful. Providing an increase in productivity and also customer
satisfaction as you can show them the leak if required. Paul

(02) 6362 0032 With
the cost of good diagnostic equipment so high, it is definitely a breath of
fresh air to find a product like the Smoke Machine. I am at a loss to
think of a more simple, cost effective method of leak detection that has
anywhere near the same level of accuracy as the Smoke Machine. Being
involved with automotive LP Gas conversions, repairs and diagnosis, we have
found that vacuum leaks in a vehicles intake system are not only common, but
are also responsible for a large percentage of customer complaints regarding
poor idle, rough operation and, on LP Gas engines, backfiring. It
is now standard practice in the workshop to test each cars intake system with
the Smoke Machine before we commence a tune up. The extra five minutes
required to do the test has not only allowed us to achieve better results with
our tune ups by indicating vacuum leaks, but has also proven to be an
excellent marketing tool, allowing us to ‘on-sell’ repairs on a car we
would normally only have tuned. Finding
leaks around injector seals, manifold gaskets, air mass meters and even vacuum
advance modules has become child’s play, even in today’s cluttered engine
bays. The assurance that there is no more guess work alone makes the Smoke
Machine worth every last cent. If
you are looking for the edge over your competition, I thoroughly recommend
the Smoke Machine to anyone, outside of Orange that is, that has a
mechanical repair business, and it’s a “must have” if you have a Gas
workshop. Greg

rough idle - the erratic idle – the hesitation – cylinder misfire
stalling. Air
leaks in the intake system have always been a problem to pin point. The smoke
Machine will “Visually” show you any leaks in the intake system from the
smallest leak – ie. Bushes in the throttle body to a manifold leak only on a
particular cylinder. It has saved me hours of time and frustration by proving
the integrity of the intake system. No leaks or bringing to my attention
intake leaks that would have affected my diagnosis. This
tool will never be obsolete and will work on any vehicle, whether carby, EFI
local or imported vehicles. If you’ve been caught by an air leak in the
intake system or suspected one now you can prove it quickly and safely. Sam

(08) 8556 1203 We
purchased the smoke machine from Mainline Automotive Equipment in December
1999. We have found it useful in detecting exhaust leaks, due to back fire on
deceleration. Air was being sucked in through an exhaust collector
(extractors), where it was not visible, between two pipes. In
reference to looking for air leaks on a LPG vehicle, we have detected throttle
bodies with a split hose, and one, that had become loose on a VT commodore. Customer
did not detect any problem, mixtures were lean. By plugging the air intake and
pressurising the air intake system with smoke, we were able to detect two
leaks. This was a lean running engine and would have ended up being an
expensive repair not covered by GMH warranty if it wasn’t detected. This
could have been a result of a backfire through the air intake. We
need to be checking late model cars regularly if running on LPG. Yours
